Please follow this check list carefully. Certain of these items are essential others use

your discretion. Should you wish to leave something off or do not have access to it

contact your trails guide.

CLOTHING

  • Colours: Neutral Colours including Brown shades, greens, dark khaki, etc.
  • Remember warmer “layers” for early mornings & evenings in the cooler winter months. Jacket, beanie etc
  • Walking Boots (Comfortable/ WORN-IN)
  • Gaiters: [Sand, grass seeds, etc]
  • Shirts
  • Shorts
  • Socks
  • Underwear
  • Quick drying pants
  • Belt

  • Hat/ Cap

GENERAL

  • The lodge runs off Solar power/ failing that we will run a generator for an hour or two in the evenings.
  • Mobile Phone & Charger [keep off/ on aeroplane mode]

CARRYING

  • Backpack: Day pack
  • Head Torch & spare batteries
  • Torch & spare batteries
  • Waterproofing: Bag Liner/ Plastic Bag

  • Identification / Emergency details

MEAL EXAMPLES
(Self-catering)

Breakfast

  • Quick meal before we depart for our walk; oats, rusks, fruit, muesli etc.

Lunche’s

  • Provita, Salti-craxs, tuna, we often suggest cooking a little extra the previous night to snack off

Dinners

  • Typical Boma braai environment
  • Braai meat, bake potatoes, mielies on the braai
  • Potjie & remember we do have a gas oven/stove in the kitchen

Snacks

  • Energy bars, biltong, trail mix, sucking sweets, biscuits, etc.

Drinks

  • Coffee, tea, powdered juice, cup-a-soup, etc
  • Rehydrate/ Salt Tablets/ Game
  • Something cold for after a hot day out

Condiments: sugar, salt,
pepper etc etc.

  • Sun Screen Lotion
