Mammals & Predators Game Viewing

Without a fence between our reserve and the Kruger National Park, all the animals living between the two reserves roam freely. This puts us in the fortunate position of having the big 5 on our reserve. Elephants and buffalo are commonly found on foot, as well as Giraffe, Kudu, Zebra, Hippo, Baboon and so much more. Some lucky guests have been able to see Leopard, Hyena and Lion. Nothing is guaranteed in the bush and when on a walking trail, it’s much more difficult to see game but the encounters you do have are so much more memorable.

Birdlife & Bird Viewing

Our reserve is a birding oasis. We have both migratory birds and resident birds on the reserve. Different times of the year offer different birding opportunities. From the migratory woodland kingfishers in December to the thumping ground hornbills roaming our trails looking for food, you never know what you may be able to spot.

Commonly found birds on Manukuza include the various Rollers, Hornbills, Starlings, Ox-peckers, Waxbills, Bateleurs, Scops owl, and many more.
